city of toronto partners for inaugural toronto climate week, showcasing leadership in local climate action
TORONTO, ON – September 26, 2025 – The City of Toronto is officially partnering with Toronto Climate Week (TOCW) in a move that builds on rapid momentum, bringing together grassroots movements, innovators, and leaders to position the city as a global hub for climate action and collaboration. The highly anticipated city-wide initiative will launch with a three-day inaugural event from October 1-3, 2025, before expanding to a full week of programming in June 2026.
With the City of Toronto joining as one of its largest partners to date, TOCW is solidifying its role as a catalyst for community-driven change. Supported by a financial contribution and a commitment to spotlight Toronto’s climate progress, this partnership reflects the city’s collective determination to lead in sustainability.
Since its launch announcement in May, TOCW has garnered widespread support from key partners like MaRS Discovery District, Deep Sky, ArcTern Ventures, Green Municipal Fund, Environmental Defence, and the Centre for Social Innovation, uniting sectors and ideas to tackle the climate crisis. This growing network embodies the essence of Toronto: diverse, creative, and ready to act boldly in the face of global challenges.
“Toronto has always been a city that thrives on collaboration and creativity, and Toronto Climate Week is a perfect reflection of that spirit,” says Mayor Olivia Chow. “Our city is proud to support the first-ever climate week in Toronto, which not only showcases our progress but also brings together the voices and ideas needed to shape a sustainable and equitable future for all.”
“This is more than a single event, it’s a movement,” says Becky Park-Romanovsky, Founder of Toronto Climate Week. “TOCW is a catalyst for turning Toronto and Canada into a global Climate Hub; it’s where partnerships take shape, bold ideas turn into action, and communities unite to build the future we all want to see. Together, we’re proving that change happens when we show up for one another and for our planet.”
TOCW invites businesses, organizations, and individuals to join the movement. Whether by hosting events, volunteering, partnering, or just showing up, there’s a role for everyone in this growing initiative. To stay updated follow @TOClimateWeek on Instagram and Toronto Climate Week on LinkedIn.
